The Swedish Chemicals Agency (Kemikalieinspektionen) is a government authority mandated to reduce the risks of harm to people and the environment from chemicals. The Development Department develops strategies, chemical regulations, and other policy instruments within the Swedish Chemicals Agency's area of responsibility at the national, EU, and international levels. The department is also responsible for environmental objectives work and international development cooperation.
The International Unit participates in work with conventions and global agreements in the chemical field and conducts development cooperation aimed at strengthening other countries' capacity to work with chemical control. Today, cooperation is primarily ongoing with countries in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Europe.

WORK TASKS
You will lead and participate in development cooperation initiatives that may be of a global, regional, or bilateral nature. The main focus of the initiatives is to support countries in their work to develop legislation and institutions for good chemical control. For some countries, this is part of EU adaptation in preparation for future membership. Support to the Government Offices before and during meetings in international negotiations on conventions and agreements in the chemical field may be included in your work tasks, as well as participation in committees and working groups.
Work in the International Unit is varied, interesting, and developmental. You work in an international, multicultural, and multilingual environment and you must be prepared to travel on business and be away for a few weeks at a time.
QUALIFICATIONS
• You must have a university degree in a field appropriate for the position, such as natural sciences, social sciences, or law.
• You have relevant experience corresponding to at least four years of work developing or implementing regulations within chemical control, in the EU or internationally.
• You must have very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in English and have good knowledge of Swedish.
• You are resourceful and can independently and systematically develop and implement projects. You also need to be prepared to find ways forward in situations where there may be many uncertainties. We expect you to have good communication skills and be skilled at conveying knowledge, find it easy to collaborate, are responsive to recipients' needs, and have good judgment. We place great importance on your personal qualities.
Further, the following qualifications are meriting:
• Good knowledge of EU chemical regulations, such as those concerning plant protection products
• Experience with development cooperation
• Experience working in or with the Government Offices
• Good knowledge of additional languages (beyond English and Swedish)
Employment type: Permanent position.
Duration: 6 months or longer, start date: Start date by agreement. The permanent position is preceded by a 6-month probationary period.
