We offer work that is investigative in nature, where you work among students at the school and have the opportunity to contribute knowledge about risk and protective factors for students' health, social situation, learning, and development. As a school counselor, you are part of the school's student health team, whose main task is health promotion and prevention work. You structure and coordinate social interventions for students facing various academic difficulties. In this role, you also guide teachers on psychosocial matters, work with students on an individual and group level, and provide support conversations with students. Based on students' needs, you collaborate with teachers, guardians, and others in the student health team, as well as with social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, and others. You also lead the school's values-based work together with the school's other counselor and senior teacher. Together, you work preventively, and you are flexible and helpful in acute situations. Examples of work tasks: Promotional and preventive work at group level Conduct support, motivation, crisis, and conflict conversations, as well as investigative, advisory, and processing conversations with individual students Initiate and participate in network work around students Map and assess the social situation outside school for individual students Work with groups in acute situations and for preventive purposes Responsible for revising and updating the school's action plan regarding sexuality, consent, and relationships Responsible for following up the school's plan against discrimination and harassment Provide professional supervision and consultation to school staff Contribute a social and psychosocial perspective to the development of educational activities The position is divided between two schools, Bjärnums skola and Mala skola, with the majority of working time at Bjärnums skola. The distribution may vary based on operational needs. The position is at 100% employment and runs until 2027-12-31. Who are you? We are looking for you who are educated as a social worker and preferably have a couple of years of work experience. If you have experience working in schools or similar work, we view this as a merit. As a school counselor with us, you have an easy time collaborating but can also plan and prioritize your work and perform it independently. You have an outward-facing and inclusive approach and create good relationships with educators, students, and guardians. You have a respectful demeanor toward people's differences and share society's and the school's values, including regarding inclusion. Furthermore, you are comfortable working with both small and larger groups of students and staff to meet the school law's requirements for preventive and health-promoting work. You follow current research and base your development work on an analysis of previous results. You also master the Swedish language in a way that allows you to communicate with students, family members, and other staff, and you can document in writing what the operations require. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. The position requires a category B driver's license and that you have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as you need to be able to communicate freely with students and teachers. Bjärnums skola is a grades F-9 school, which together with Mala skola forms a rector district. Bjärnums skola has approximately 360 students in grades F-9. Leadership consists of a rector and two assistant rectors. The school is located approximately 15 minutes by car north of Hässleholm.
