Job Description As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with clients. Working at a detention facility means focusing on care and security, and it is a job with clear procedures. Some people are held in detention for long periods and only meet their lawyer and those who work at the facility. This places special demands on you as a correctional officer. Working as a correctional officer means you can make a difference for other people and contribute to a better society. You will begin your employment at the workplace where you will receive an introduction for two to three weeks, during which you need to be available full-time. Qualifications Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be confident, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you run the operations, so you need to have good teamwork skills and be clear in your communication. You must be able to act physically when required. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect you and others. We are looking for someone who has: Complete upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service considers relevant Work experience, including seasonal work, temporary employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment Good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing Good computer skills It is also advantageous to have: Work experience from the prison and probation service, security work, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social work Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management Relevant language skills B-class driver's license Other Information The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has chosen to remove the personal letter and replaced it with selection questions that are relevant to the position.
