Background Our client is a large international technology company that develops advanced solutions within automation, electrification, and industrial technology. The business is characterized by technical development and high demands for quality, reliability, and long-term sustainable solutions. In the company's electronic designs today, there are components that depend on a single supplier. To reduce this vulnerability, they actively work with so-called second source components – alternative components that can be used if the ordinary component becomes difficult to obtain or if the supplier encounters delivery problems. About the Position As a component engineer, you will become part of the client's electronics operations in Västerås. Your main focus will be to investigate, compare, and verify alternative electronic components to ensure that they meet the correct technical requirements and function in existing designs. The complexity of the work varies depending on the component. In some cases, verification can be performed through a careful comparison of datasheets and technical parameters, while other components require practical testing and verification against multiple products and designs. This assignment is part of our staffing services; you will be employed by Professionals Nord and work as a consultant for our client in Västerås. Work Tasks In the role, you will, among other things: Identify and evaluate alternative electronic components, so-called second source components Read, analyze, and compare datasheets and technical specifications Compare critical parameters between existing and alternative components Assess how an alternative component functions in different electronic designs Perform tests and more extensive verifications when component complexity requires it Ensure that alternative components meet defined technical requirements Document performed verifications according to established processes We're Looking for You If You Have post-secondary education in electronics, electrical engineering, hardware, or equivalent field and have gained some relevant work experience. You may, for example, have worked as a hardware engineer, electronics engineer, electronics designer, component engineer, or test/verification engineer within electronics. We would like you to have around 1–3 years of relevant experience, but we place great emphasis on your technical foundation and your ability to quickly grasp new areas. Previous experience with second source work is not a requirement. To succeed in the role, we see that you have a good understanding of electronics and electronic components and feel comfortable reading and interpreting datasheets and technical specifications. Experience with, for example, component selection, PCB, circuit diagrams, testing, or verification is advantageous. As a person, you are careful, analytical, and well-organized. You find it easy to grasp new and complex work tasks and enjoy working methodically.
