Do you want to make complex knowledge about climate, weather, and water understandable and useful for society? We are now seeking a communications officer with a focus on climate adaptation. The position is placed within the Communications Unit. The unit works with everything from strategic communications and management support to operational initiatives both internally and externally. Some of the unit's work tasks include producing content for digital channels, communications advice, web editorial work, press services, crisis communications, and environmental monitoring. The unit is part of the Management and Operations Support Department, which provides management, governance, and operational support for the entire organization from an SMHI-wide perspective. About the Position You will have a particular focus on communications initiatives linked to the National Knowledge Center for Climate Adaptation. Together with experts, you will identify communication needs and plan, implement, and follow up on communications initiatives. You will also function as an advisory support in communications matters. An important part of the work is making complex knowledge understandable, relevant, and useful for different target audiences. You will work independently with, among other things, web and social media, manage content on klimatanpassning.se, newsletters, videos, and presentations. You will be part of the Communications Unit and also contribute to the unit's joint communications work. This means that work tasks may vary based on the needs of the operations and the authority. About You We are looking for someone with relevant higher education in media and communications science, or equivalent education or experience that we deem equivalent. You also have several years of current experience as a communications officer where you have worked independently both tactically and operationally. For this position, you must also have: experience with web work including follow-up experience producing content for social media, including follow-up experience planning, implementing, following up on, and developing communications initiatives experience adapting communications and messages to different target audiences and channels experience conveying complex knowledge to broad audiences in an understandable way Meritorious qualifications include: working in public sector operations experience with basic film production, moving content, or graphic production experience with media relations Great weight will be placed on your personal qualities. You are self-driven and confident in your role as a communications officer and have an easy time creating good collaborations with experts, colleagues, and external actors alike. You work in a structured manner, can prioritize between different needs, and are flexible when circumstances change. You have very strong language and analytical skills and can quickly grasp complex issues, assess what is relevant, and translate knowledge into clear and target-audience-adapted communications. You are a strong writer and have very good knowledge of Swedish and good knowledge of English, both spoken and written. You are experienced working with relevant digital tools for communications and content production. You also have knowledge of analyzing and following up on web statistics as well as current knowledge of accessibility. Employment Terms The position is a parental leave substitute from as soon as possible until April 2028, with a possible option for extension. Work Location Placement is at our office in Norrköping. The majority of your working time will be at the office and you have the opportunity to work from home when it suits the operations.
