As a municipal ecologist, you have an important role in working to preserve and develop valuable natural environments while contributing to sustainable urban planning. Job Responsibilities As a municipal ecologist with a focus on aquatic ecology, you will work with: Knowledge building through nature inventories, nature value assessments, and sampling related to aquatic environments Water management according to the EU Water Framework Directive Classification and status assessment of surface water and groundwater Development and implementation of action programs for good ecological and chemical status Support for physical planning, detailed plans, and development matters Support for inspection, supervision, and review management according to the Environmental Code Qualifications We are seeking someone with a university or college education in ecology, biology, nature conservation, or other education that the employer considers equivalent. It is desirable to have specialization in aquatic ecology through education or work experience. You have experience working with nature conservation, environmental, or ecology issues and feel confident making analyses and assessments in this field. You have good knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Environmental Code and the Water Management Ordinance, and can express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish. Since the work involves travel within the municipality, you need to have a Class B driving license. It is meritorious if you have experience working in municipal operations, urban planning, or project management. If you also have boating experience and knowledge of GIS and geographic analysis, we see that as an extra plus. We are seeking someone who can make well-balanced assessments from ecological, economic, and societal perspectives. The role involves many contact points, which requires you to have good collaboration skills and the ability to build trusting relationships both within and outside the organization. You are communicative, receptive, and have the ability to explain complex issues clearly and pedagogically.
