About the Position This is a direct recruitment, which means the recruitment process takes place through Bravura and you'll be employed directly by Mestergruppen. About the Company Mestergruppen Sverige is an association of independent entrepreneurs. Under their umbrella are well-known chains such as XL-BYGG, BOLIST, Happy Homes, Colorama, and Mal Proff AB. Together, they are market leaders in building materials retail in Sweden, with around 275 stores throughout the country. In addition, the business includes approximately 175 paint specialty retail stores, making them one of Sweden's largest players with an extensive store network. Mestergruppen is a values-driven organization, and their shared values—reliable, efficient, action-oriented, and team players—are central to everything they do. Their service office in Solna consists of approximately 90 dedicated employees and offers support in areas such as procurement, master data, marketing, e-commerce, finance, logistics, business systems, and store development and establishment. As a support function to their members and partners, they have an important mission: to provide products, services, and expertise that enable the stores in their chains to be profitable, efficient, and successful. The Mestergruppen Sverige service office is part of the Mestergruppen Group, with headquarters in Oslo, and they strongly believe in the power of a group-wide approach. Mestergruppen has modern facilities at the top of Solna Gate with a gym, sports hall, and restaurant in the building. Responsibilities As a Category Manager, you'll be a central part of Mestergruppen's procurement department, with strategic responsibility for assortment, supplier relationships, and profitability within the categories of power tools, work clothes, flooring, and adhesives and grout. You'll combine strategic work with procurement, negotiations, and category development with operational tasks such as implementation in the store network and monitoring of procurement statistics and results. The role requires strong business acumen, very good analytical ability, and strong negotiation skills. You have a keen interest in building materials and construction, and good market understanding is an advantage. You'll work closely with chains, members, suppliers, and internal support functions such as master data, marketing, sustainability, and sales, and contribute to ensuring that new products and solutions reach the members. The role involves no personnel management responsibility, but you'll have significant authority to drive change, improvements, and development within your categories. Onboarding and areas of responsibility will be adapted based on your background and experience. Examples of Work Tasks: Manage assortment, purchase prices, and supplier agreements within your categories Conduct procurements and drive category development Develop category and assortment plans based on market needs Negotiate and develop supplier collaborations Collaborate with members, marketing, and other internal support functions Monitor procurement statistics, profitability, and results Education, Experience, and Personal Qualities • At least three years of experience from an analytical role • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written • Very good Excel skills • Experience from the building industry is strongly advantageous. Experience from, for example, building materials retail, wholesale operations, or retail is seen as an advantage • Master's degree in, for example, industrial economics, economics, procurement, or another relevant field is advantageous As a Category Manager, you thrive in a dynamic and changing environment where you have significant responsibility and the opportunity to make an impact.
