About the Parish
Holmsund Parish is located 12 km from Umeå and consists of the archipelago communities of Obbola and Holmsund. Approximately 9,000 people live here, and about 62% are members of the Church of Sweden. Here you'll find the opportunities of a smaller parish with close and long-lasting relationships and great possibilities to make a difference in the community.
The parish has two churches, one diaconal center, and two cemeteries. The parish offers an open and welcoming ministry, including a strong diaconal focus, a solid foundation in both finances and governance, and a good team to join.
The location by the sea and the mouth of the Umeå River offers magnificent nature with beautiful views and experiences for both work and private life. The communities of Holmsund and Obbola have undergone changes over several stages from villages to industrial towns and now to increasingly attractive coastal residential areas. Holmsund is located approximately one mile outside Umeå, which offers the advantages of proximity to a larger city and has good collaborative relationships with neighboring parishes.
As a musician in Holmsund Parish, you'll be part of a team of 20 employees.
Responsibilities
As a musician, you'll play an important role in developing the parish's music ministry and worship life. You will lead and develop choir activities for various age groups and musical styles. The parish has children's choirs that need to be maintained and developed, while we also have a vision for youth and adult choir activities to grow and expand. An important part of the position will also be to inspire participation in various forms of music activities.
The role includes performing at services and church ceremonies, and you'll be an important part of the development process of worship life that the parish is undergoing.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Holds a church musician degree at minimum C-level, or possesses equivalent competence as assessed by the employer
Has experience leading choirs
Is a member of the Church of Sweden and shares its values
Has good digital skills
Has good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
We consider it advantageous if you have:
Choir leadership training in addition to the above qualifications
Worked in Church of Sweden worship services

Terms
The position is a permanent employment at 100% with a start date by mutual agreement. A probationary period may apply. Working hours are arranged for weekdays, weekends, daytime, and evenings. Prior to potential employment, you will need to provide an extract from the criminal record registry.
