We are currently looking for an interim unit manager for the Library unit at Ale Municipality! The public libraries in Ale comprise four libraries located in Surte, Nödinge, Älvängen, and Skepplanda. Library operations are thus conducted at multiple different workplaces, which have different conditions and needs. The operation is staffed by eleven librarians who are responsible for both daily operations and a broad and varied program offering. The reading promotion mission plays a central role and is carried out in close collaboration with preschools, schools, the cultural school, and leisure activities.
The work group consists of engaged librarians with high competence and solid expert knowledge in librarianship. In the role as interim manager, an important task will be to create favorable conditions for well-functioning collaboration and positive development of the group. This requires attentive and clear leadership, with the ability to create structure, build trust, and at the same time drive the operation forward.
About the Role
As interim manager, you are responsible for leading and coordinating daily library work at the municipality's four libraries. You create structure and clarity in operations, while actively working with the work group, work environment, and collaboration. The role also includes administrative tasks and representing the municipality in relevant networks for library managers.
The assignment includes, among other things:
Lead and coordinate existing library work at the municipality's four libraries, including scheduling and staffing.
Ensure and further develop structure, routines, and clear working methods.
Build relationships and contribute to good collaboration and a well-functioning work group.
Identify and take necessary measures within the work environment area.
Allocate and reallocate work tasks based on the operation's needs and conditions.
Participate in the department's management group and be responsible for administrative tasks related to the management group's work.
Participate in networks and meetings for library managers and represent the municipality in these contexts.
This is a consultant assignment, which means you will be employed by us at StudentConsulting and work as a consultant at Ale Municipality. The assignment is planned to start October 5 or by agreement and runs for four months, with the possibility of extension if needed. The assignment is full-time and the application deadline is 9/24.

Experience working in municipal or other politically governed operations
Experience and expertise from a management role in a politically governed organization is a merit
Experience from library or cultural activities is a merit
