Make a difference. Every day. The Neurointensive Care Unit (NIVA) in Lund provides highly specialized intensive care and is part of the neurosurgery and pain rehabilitation operational area. We have a regional mandate to serve the entire Southern Healthcare Region with highly specialized neurointensive care. NIVA has six intensive care beds where we primarily care for patients with severe head and/or spinal injuries. We are a high-tech intensive care unit characterized by a commitment to achieving medical results of the highest quality. NIVA also has an intermediate care unit (IMA) with five care beds where we care for acute patients with intermediate care needs. The unit also functions as a step-down unit for our patients who no longer require intensive care. Care needs at IMA can range from advanced care to lighter monitoring. We also have a postoperative unit with four care beds where we provide postoperative care for newly operated patients from our facility. Newly operated children are also cared for on the postoperative unit. The Neurosurgery Department in Lund is one of Sweden's six facilities providing neurosurgery. We operate our surgical unit 24/7 and also have a care ward, day care operations, and an outpatient clinic. The facility employs approximately 300 people, of which 100 work at NIVA. 2 position(s).
