Do you want to calculate how a fighter jet actually performs? We're looking for an engineer to work in flight dynamics and performance at a company in Linköping, where you'll build your own simulation models and see the results used in flight manuals and customer documentation. ABOUT THE ROLE As an engineer in flight dynamics and performance, you'll work with simulations and analyses to calculate aircraft performance. You'll develop your own models, for example for fuel consumption, validate them against flight test data, and automate recurring calculations with your own scripts. The results are visualized and become the basis for marketing and the aircraft's flight manuals – calculations that are critical both in development work and for the customer. The work primarily concerns existing fighter jets, but you'll also contribute to projects for future flight systems. During your first time, you'll have a mentor who guides you through their software and working methods. Summary of work tasks: Develop and further develop simulation models, for example for fuel consumption Perform performance and flight dynamics calculations Validate your own models against flight test data Write scripts and automate recurring calculations Visualize and deliver results as basis for marketing and flight manuals ABOUT YOU You're self-driven and take own initiatives – if you see a problem, you tackle it rather than wait for someone else. You work carefully and keep track of details in your calculations, while at the same time you're curious and like to dig one step deeper to understand why the result looks the way it does. We're looking for someone with: Master's degree in engineering physics, mechanics, or vehicle engineering and at least one year of work experience – alternatively a Bachelor's degree in engineering in the same areas and at least three years of experience Experience in model development, where you've built your own models and not just worked in ready-made software Experience working in Git Ability to complete and be approved in a security clearance prior to employment, which may require certain citizenship Merits: Strong aviation interest Pilot's license ABOUT THE COMPANY You'll become part of a team of approximately 16 employees, mainly systems and calculation engineers. The group is a mix of experienced and more junior colleagues with strong academic backgrounds – many are master's engineers or have PhDs in aerospace engineering or engineering physics. They work closely together, share knowledge, and support each other in projects. You'll have three colleagues in the same role as you and a manager who is nearby for support and guidance.
