Your Responsibilities Full-time mentors are tasked with assisting teaching staff with work related to mentoring students. In this role, you will work closely with students, providing targeted mentoring support to a small number of students in need of special support. You will support students socially and pedagogically throughout the school day. This includes, among other things: - Participate in student care work - Maintain close contact with guardians - Plan and participate in mentor time, development conversations, parent meetings, etc. - Encourage and coach students, and work with motivating measures, goal-setting, and future planning - Monitor student attendance and work with remedial measures - Help students with study planning and study techniques You will work closely with the school's three other full-time mentors, students' class mentors, the student health team, and school principals. Your Workplace Tornhagsskolan is a school with preschool through grade 9, as well as after-school care and open leisure activities. In grades 7-9, we have 345 students and approximately 50 employees. Tornhagsskolan is located in a peaceful and pleasant setting with proximity to Valla recreation area, Gamla Linköping, and Rydskogen. We are also within walking distance of the City Library, the Cathedral, and the city center. The school grounds offer a varied environment that promotes outdoor play. Teaching at Tornhagsskolan is based on clear learning objectives in each subject, and we have an inclusive approach. This means we have flexible thinking around each student's learning situation. Each individual is unique, and we strive to develop and stimulate each individual and their abilities based on their needs and individual circumstances. Placing the student at the center requires high demands for flexibility and courage to break established patterns. Staff actively work with sustainable development to foster students into responsible individuals and active participating citizens. The focus is also on collegial learning around literacy development and further development of mathematics teaching methodology. About You It is required that you have a social science, behavioral science, or pedagogical education at university level, or other education that the employer deems equivalent. It is also required that you have work experience from secondary school (grades 7-9). It is advantageous if you have experience with student-centered work, students in need of special support, or experience with close teamwork with colleagues. To develop a holistic perspective on the student, both from the student's academic situation and socially, experience with student health work is advantageous. Beyond this, we view positively if you have knowledge of different conversation methods. You will work with documentation regarding students. Good computer skills and the ability to handle digital tools are necessary. Since communication and documentation are a large part of the position, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of Swedish, both verbal and written. As a person, you are outgoing and enjoy building professional relationships, while being able to distinguish between the personal and professional. You have good collaboration skills where you smoothly relate to and address the individual support needs of students and colleagues. By enthusiastically motivating others, you create participation and engagement. Furthermore, you communicate clearly and ensure that your message gets through.
