The Department for Public Protection and Emergency Preparedness consists of a team of 19 people, with assignments in emergency preparedness, crime prevention, and violence against women. The department is led by a department head and an assistant. We work in teams based on activities, with different areas of responsibility, which provides the opportunity to specialize in several areas while maintaining an overall perspective to understand how different parts of the work connect. We also collaborate within a department characterized by good cooperation, lack of hierarchy, and trust in each other. Our work with emergency preparedness aims to ensure the region has a strong capacity to prevent, resist, and manage societal disruptions across the full spectrum of threats, from peacetime incidents to heightened alert and war. We are responsible for both planning and long-term work as well as managing acute events. Key Responsibilities Within emergency preparedness, we work on capacity building at multiple levels of the system: our own agency, the region, the northern civilian area, national, and international levels. Roles and tasks within the group can be reallocated and changed depending on the assignments we are given and developments in society. The team on the department working with civil defense planning currently consists of four people. The position mainly includes the following tasks: Emergency preparedness planning within the agency, such as development of the agency's war organization, preparation of preparedness plans, and planning and implementation of exercises. Development, support, and planning within civilian protection, such as planning for evacuation and accommodation. Drive and participate in development work on civil defense matters at the regional, national, and international level. Participate in other relevant tasks within the area of public protection and emergency preparedness. The position may also include handling referrals and representation of Länsstyrelsen in various meeting contexts. You may also become responsible for coordinating various networks and/or working groups. Travel is part of the position. Qualifications We are looking for you who: Have a degree from university or college education that the employer deems relevant to the area of operations or equivalent experience acquired in other ways. Have experience in process management or development work from the public or private sector. Have, for the tasks, very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and in giving presentations. It is meritorious if you: Have experience leading cooperation between actors from the public or private sector. Have experience working with emergency preparedness or civil defense matters from the public or private sector. Have experience working with exercise planning and conducting training. To thrive in this role, you must be able to collaborate in a group and build relationships both within the agency and with external stakeholders. You need to be driven and able to work independently, strategically, and long-term while also being flexible and able to adapt your work based on new circumstances. Our complex operations require you to be able to see issues from different perspectives; therefore, you need the ability to think holistically. We will place great emphasis on personality. Terms The employment is full-time, permanent, and a six-month probationary period may be applied. The position requires Swedish citizenship as it is classified in a security class.
