About the Workplace We are now seeking an administrative handler in administrative law for Eskilstuna and Nyköping. The Service Department is one of the Swedish Police Authority's national departments and consists of three units with a total of over 720 employees. The department is part of the crime-fighting mission and works with citizen services including e-services and reception activities, develops travel documents and service cards, provides public documents and register excerpts. The authority's administrative matters and national telephone switchboard are also included, as is responsibility for the authority's information management. The position will be placed within the administrative law activities and includes, among other things, issuing and revoking permits to possess weapons, inspections of weapons dealers, and other administrative law matters within the weapons field. Certain work tasks are performed in close cooperation with police operations. The activity area is changing with new legislation and new case types for the year. Work Tasks As an administrative handler, you will work with investigating, handling, presenting, and making decisions in administrative law matters. In this group, cases are handled according to the Weapons Act and Weapons Ordinance. Weapons matters include, for example, cases where private individuals or organizations apply for permission to possess weapons, for example for hunting or target shooting purposes. You will assess individuals' suitability to possess weapons, whether weapons permits should be revoked, and how a weapon from an estate should be handled. The work involves writing decisions that you either present to your supervisor or decide on yourself. Handling of administrative law matters is primarily done in the police's digital case management system and through written and oral contact, so you need to be comfortable working with computer and telephone as work tools. The work also includes conducting site visits for physical inspections of weapons dealers', private individuals', shooting associations', and organizations' physical storage and possession of weapons. The work therefore requires that you have good basic physical fitness and are comfortable handling physical weapons. Qualifications This is an opportunity for you who have: Upper secondary education Some years of current experience with administrative work, preferably with elements of case handling, investigation, or decision support Experience working in multiple digital systems simultaneously and a good ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new IT environments Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office package Very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish Category B driver's license It is meritorious if you also have: Experience interpreting and applying legislation or regulations that the employer deems equivalent Current experience with administrative law matters Experience working within public sector activities Current experience with practical weapons handling, for example through military service, hunting, or shooting Personal Qualities To thrive in the role, you find it easy to collaborate and care about the team and your colleagues. As an administrative handler in the weapons field, you need to have good communication skills as the role involves many contact points. At times we have a high influx of cases, so you need to have a good ability to structure and prioritize your work and feel comfortable independently and autonomously driving your cases forward, seeking information, and drafting authority decisions and correspondence within given frameworks and directives. As the activities are in a phase of change with reorganization and new legislation, you adapt easily to new circumstances. We will place great emphasis on personal qualities.
