The Unit for Sustainable Community Development works with environmental and social sustainability. The unit employs developers and project managers with various areas of responsibility within these issues. The unit is located at the Administrative Department, where the area of responsibility is broad and tasks are varied. We provide qualified support to elected officials and the administration. Together, we are responsible for several cross-municipal matters including security, civil preparedness, safety and crime prevention, archives, case and information management, legal affairs, sustainability, and investigations. We are facing important development towards fossil-free operations by 2030 and climate neutrality by 2040. Energy issues are a central part of this work and need to be managed in light of the municipality's continued development, the need for a robust energy supply, and a changed international situation. Energy supply is also a strategic prerequisite for municipal development – for housing construction, business and establishment, climate transition, and our preparedness. We are now seeking a sustainability developer with energy focus. This is a new role, which means you will have the opportunity to shape the assignment and develop the municipality's strategic work in the energy sector. 1 position(s). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES You will be responsible for coordinating and developing the municipal group's overall energy planning. You will work in close collaboration with the municipality's community planners and other affected operations to ensure that energy issues become an integrated part of the municipality's long-term development. In this role, you will work strategically on matters related to energy production, transmission, and storage. An important part of the assignment is also to contribute a preparedness perspective and promote a long-term sustainable and robust energy supply. The role includes, among other things: • take responsibility for and develop the municipal group's overall energy planning in close cooperation with community planning. • analyze and work strategically on matters related to energy production, transmission, distribution and storage, as well as power needs and grid capacity. • contribute to integrating energy issues into the municipality's long-term community planning, for example in comprehensive planning, land use, and planning for housing, business areas, and establishments. • monitor developments in the energy sector and ensure that the municipality's work complies with relevant national legislation and other governing requirements. • contribute to the municipality's development towards fossil-free operations and climate neutrality. • integrate a preparedness and robustness perspective into the municipality's energy planning. • prepare analyses, calculations, strategies, consultation responses, and other decision-making materials in the energy sector. • coordinate and collaborate with various parts of the municipal group and with external stakeholders in the energy sector. You will have many contact points and work closely with colleagues in the Unit for Sustainable Community Development, the Community Development Office, the Technology and Service Office, and the municipally-owned property and energy company. The assignment also includes contacts with external stakeholders and authorities, such as Svenska kraftnät and Vattenfall. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who has: • Relevant higher education or university degree, for example engineering education with a focus on energy, energy systems, community development, or other education that the employer considers equivalent. • Good knowledge of energy issues and understanding of how energy systems, energy supply, and community planning are connected, at local, regional, and national levels. • Ability to independently conduct analyses and calculations and prepare strategies, materials, and consultation responses. • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish in both speech and writing. We also see it as advantageous if you have: • Experience of strategic work with energy planning or other similar energy and community planning issues. • Experience of work with energy production, power grids, transmission capacity, energy storage, or energy preparedness. • Experience of working in a municipality, other public operation, or politically governed organization. • Experience of coordinating issues involving multiple operations and external stakeholders. Your personal qualities are important to us, and we will therefore place great emphasis on them. Since the position is new, you need to be comfortable working on an assignment where all structures and working methods are not yet in place. You have the ability to independently address issues, create structure, and drive work forward. At the same time, this is a role where collaboration is crucial. You are skilled at creating good relationships, coordinating different perspectives, and finding ways forward on issues where multiple operations and stakeholders need to contribute. You can switch between deepening yourself in analyses and technical issues and stepping back to see energy issues from a larger strategic and cross-municipal perspective. Does this sound exciting?
