About the Position
As a recreation pedagogue, you will follow the students throughout the day and work in the classroom, during breaks, and in the after-school program.
During the school day, you work as a teaching assistant in one of the lower grades classes. You collaborate with the responsible teacher and support students according to the teacher's planning. Together, you contribute to structure, safety, and an atmosphere conducive to learning in the classroom.
During breaks, you are an active and present adult. You lead break activities, help students join in games, and respond when conflicts or unsafe situations arise.
In the after-school program, you plan and carry out activities based on students' needs and interests as well as the after-school program's mission. This could include creative activities, movement, play, cooperation exercises, nature experiences, and outings. You work to ensure that students have influence over their free time and the opportunity to develop positive relationships.
Your work also includes:
collaborating with teachers, after-school staff, student support services, and school leadership
being active and present during meals, outings, and shared activities
contributing to planning and development of the after-school program
maintaining professional and trustworthy contact with guardians
