The Role of Foot Care Specialist
As a Foot Care Specialist, you perform foot care and wound care for diabetic patients. This also involves observing, assessing, prioritizing, documenting, and communicating changes in the patient's foot status.
You participate in team care around the patient, and in dialogue with patients and their loved ones, you provide support and guidance to enable optimal participation in care and treatment. The team consists of diabetes physicians, diabetes nurses, dietitians, and foot therapists. As a foot therapist, you also often collaborate with orthopedic surgeons and orthotists. This is independent work where you have the opportunity to take significant responsibility, while working in a team with high expertise across multiple professions.

The Diabetes Foot Care Clinic is part of Medical Care Unit E at the Department of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. The Department of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at Höglandssjukhuset in Eksjö is a developing facility where we care for patients requiring specialized medical and geriatric care. The clinic has a history of innovative, systematic, and evidence-based quality work with strong patient focus.

Your Profile
You are trained as a nursing assistant and have foot care specialist training of three terms. It is also desirable that you have a few years of experience in the profession. You are calm and approachable in your manner and collaborate well with other people. You should feel comfortable mentoring students and speaking to groups.
We would like to see that you have good knowledge and experience with wounds and diabetes.
