Are you interested in research and innovation and have broad and deep knowledge of society's climate transition and adaptation to a changing climate to work with Formas' mission related to climate challenges. Welcome to Formas, a research council for sustainable development! We finance research and innovation that can contribute to achieving the UN's global sustainability goals and produce knowledge bases to help Sweden reach its environmental targets. We have a strong focus on collaboration with researchers and various societal actors, both in Sweden and internationally. Formas' activities in the climate area are in an exciting and important phase. We are in the final stages of work on the national climate research program, which has existed since 2017, and are working to direct Formas' continued efforts in the climate area. Together with colleagues, you will have a significant role in this strategically important work. This requires good overview of Swedish climate research, society's knowledge needs in the climate area, and interest in research's role in addressing major complex societal challenges. About the unit The Climate Transition Unit consists of ten employees who, among other things, work to coordinate the national climate research program, Sweden's innovation initiative Impact innovation, the government assignment Chemically Safe Future, and Formas' researcher-initiated calls. The unit also contributes to Formas' work with analyses, investigations and research compilations. We also work internationally, particularly towards the EU's research and innovation framework program as well as in Nordic collaborations. The unit also contributes to developing our funding processes, communication about Formas' initiatives, and the utilization and impact of the research and innovation the agency finances. We have ongoing contact with a wide range of actors in the surrounding society. Many tasks are performed in cross-functional teams that span different units and departments at Formas. About the role You will be part of a team responsible for the development and implementation of the national climate research program, and together with colleagues contribute to directing Formas' continued efforts in the climate area. In the role as research secretary, you will also work with initiating and implementing research and innovation calls. You will contribute to environmental scanning as well as analysis and monitoring of initiatives. The work tasks include representing the agency in collaboration with other agencies, organizations and stakeholders as well as planning and implementing outward-facing activities. You will also contribute to other parts of Formas' areas of responsibility such as biological diversity, marine and water, societal building, food and forestry. Who are you? As a person, you are structured, responsible, unpretentious and have high integrity. You have good collaboration skills and can see the whole picture, plan and prioritize. You are skilled at driving your work forward and taking initiative. You work both independently and in groups and have a good ability to collaborate constructively. Requirements for the position: Research education in an area relevant to the position (or equivalent qualifications acquired in other ways) Documented knowledge of society's climate transition and/or climate adaptation. At least five years of work experience in a knowledge organization and with research and innovation issues relevant to the climate area. An established network within climate-related issues. Very good communication skills and you can express yourself clearly and plainly in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
