The Department of Sociology, founded in 1954, offers a dynamic research environment with numerous interdisciplinary collaborations and a strong international research profile. The department is particularly competitive in the areas of demography, ethnic relations and migration, gender, family sociology, political sociology, social policy, social networks, and social stratification. The department is home to Stockholm University's Demographic Unit (SUDA), an international group of researchers and doctoral students working on many different aspects of population dynamics. Duties Two-thirds of the position (50% of full-time) will involve the project "SeRO: Sexual and Reproductive Outcomes of Violent Crime," which examines how local violent crime affects sexual and reproductive health outcomes in Mexico, funded by the European Research Council (ERC). The principal investigator for this project is Signe Svallfors. One-third of the position (25% of full-time) will involve work with and analyses of survey data within the project "Partnership formation and fertility decline in times of global uncertainties," funded by Forte. The principal investigator for this project is Gunnar Andersson. The duties include literature reviews, statistical analyses of empirical data, and some project administration. Qualifications The applicant should have a master's degree in demography or a related field at an advanced level. Advantageous are knowledge of how health is affected by conflict and/or crime, as well as skills in quantitative demographic methods. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. Excellent command of English in speech and writing is required. Knowledge of Swedish is advantageous. About the Position The position comprises up to 75% of full-time and is limited to six months with the possibility of extension. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting.
