The Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management (HaV) operates and coordinates work for living seas, lakes and watercourses on behalf of the government, now and for future generations. The Fisheries Control Department has overall responsibility and coordination for fisheries control in Sweden. We are responsible for monitoring and supporting Swedish commercial fisheries in accordance with EU common rules, with a holistic perspective on fisheries control and ecosystem-based management. We work closely with other departments within the agency and with external partners. The Field Control Unit has 20 people working to ensure that Swedish and international laws regulating commercial fishing are followed. We have offices in three locations: Göteborg, Simrishamn and Karlskrona, but also work in other locations when commercial fishers land their catch in Swedish ports. Read more at Havochvatten.se/organisation We are looking for a Field Inspector in Göteborg Do you want to work practically in the field and contribute to sustainable fishing? Duties As a Field Inspector at the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management, you work with monitoring and control along the Swedish west coast. The role involves varied work where you and your colleagues ensure that the fishing industry follows applicable rules and regulations. As a Field Inspector, you mainly work to ensure that commercial fishers and other actors comply with the common fisheries policy and national fisheries regulations. The checks, also called inspections, are conducted in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Your duties include, among other things: conducting inspections of commercial fishing reporting, the use of fishing equipment and catches conducting inspections of transports containing fishery products inspecting actors that weigh, receive or purchase fishery products documenting and reporting completed inspections in our digital systems The work involves the exercise of government authority and therefore places high demands on accuracy, legal certainty and professional conduct. The job is varied and takes place mainly outdoors in port environments and onboard vessels. The role includes practical elements and requires you to feel comfortable with active work in different environments and weather conditions. You need to feel safe working in and around ships and following the safety procedures that the work requires. The position is based in Göteborg and the main work area is the Swedish west coast. Travel occurs regularly, sometimes on short notice and sometimes to other places in Sweden or abroad. We also collaborate with other member states within the EU, which may involve international inspection assignments. Work is scheduled and may include work in evenings, nights and weekends. For safety and collaboration reasons, we always work in teams of at least two people. Qualifications We are looking for you who: have upper secondary education have at least one year of work experience in supervision, service or other work that the employer deems relevant have a B driver's license and are a careful and safe driver have good computer skills and experience working in digital systems can express yourself well in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing The following are particularly meriting: post-secondary education experience with government authority or supervision work education in supervision, control or inspection activities knowledge of commercial fishing and Swedish fish species experience working outdoors year-round in changing weather conditions experience working at inconvenient times An important requirement is that you are reliable, responsible and able to set boundaries. We therefore want to see an extract from the criminal record register. To thrive in the role, you need to be collaboration-oriented and comfortable meeting people. You need to be able to make decisions in the field while maintaining a professional and respectful manner. You are flexible and adaptable when tasks and priorities change. We also value commitment to societal issues and the environment. We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities. Conditions The employment is based in Göteborg, but involves regular travel to other locations. The position is a permanent employment. The Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management applies probation and individual salary setting. The salary range for the position is between 33,000:- 38,000:-/month and is based on competence in relation to skills relevant to the position.
