About the Operations The Surgery Clinic at Sundsvall Hospital is part of regional Surgery, Urology, and ENT operations within Region Västernorrland. The operations provide highly specialized and acute surgical care across multiple surgical areas. The physician group consists of specialist physicians, resident physicians, and junior physicians with a focus on quality, education, research, and development. As unit manager for the physician group, you are responsible for creating conditions for employees to develop and provide safe, high-quality care. You are responsible for personnel, work environment, competence planning, and operations development for the clinic's physicians. You are part of the regional operations management group and work closely with the operations manager, section representatives, and other managers to develop the operations. The unit manager role is combined with clinical work based on agreed scope. As a manager with us, you contribute to developing the future surgical operations with a focus on competence planning, education, and work environment. The position is a permanent employment in your base profession, and the manager assignment is time-limited based on the Region's leadership policy as a guideline. As a manager in Region Västernorrland, you represent the employer and exercise leadership grounded in good self-awareness and characterized by honesty, openness, sense of responsibility, and personal courage. The position is 50-100% according to agreement. Start date is 2027-01-01 or by agreement. Responsibilities Lead, develop, and support the clinic's physicians in daily work Manage personnel, work environment, and competence planning Drive operations development and improvement initiatives Manage recruitment and onboarding of new employees Collaborate with labor organizations and other operations within the region Contribute to monitoring of operations goals, quality, and finances Participate in the regional operations management group Combine the manager assignment with clinical work according to agreement Qualifications We are looking for someone who: Is a licensed physician Is a specialist physician within a surgical specialty or other relevant specialty for the operations Has mentor training for physicians Has experience leading employees, teams, or operations It is advantageous if you: Have management or leadership training Have completed leadership training within Region Västernorrland or equivalent Have work experience in operations development and change management Hold a doctoral degree or have scientific competence Have previously held manager positions with personnel, work environment, and operations responsibility Have experience with labor collaboration Have work experience in recruitment, competence planning, and scheduling Have previous work experience leading change and development initiatives in larger organizations Have experience working in surgical operations and on-call organization Have good English language skills, spoken and written Hold a driver's license (category B) For success in this role, we believe you have these personal qualities: Judgment Holistic perspective Collaboration skills Structured approach The following documentation must be attached to your application according to the procedures for expert review in the appointment of specialist-trained physicians at academic healthcare units and university healthcare units: Scientific Qualifications (if applicable) Certificate of academic degree, for example Doctor of Medicine or Docent Complete publication list Pedagogical Qualifications (if applicable) Certificate/documentation of teaching experience Certificate of mentor course (basic or specialist training) Clinical and Other Qualifications (if applicable) Certificate of sub-specialization Certificate/documentation of management assignment and/or operations development Verification of physician license and all relevant specialist certificates through Socialstyrelsen (HOSP) will be conducted upon receipt of application.
