Communications Department The Communications Department's overarching mission is to drive and develop Region Gotland's communication capabilities and strengthen the region's brand. The department has three units: communication support, regional information, and the Almedalen Week office. The department head is the Communications Director. The position of unit manager is located in the communication support unit, whose mission is to support other parts of the organization in their communication work. A central part of the work is to manage and develop the region's shared channels – website, intranet, media library, and social media. The unit consists of a dedicated communication team with various specialist competencies. Within the team there is, among others, a press secretary and an editorial team that coordinates news and other communication initiatives in the region's shared channels. The unit also drives and develops the region's overall crisis communication efforts. Your Responsibilities As a unit manager, you have overall responsibility for leading, driving, and developing the unit's daily and operational communication work, and for monitoring the achievement of performance targets, productivity, and quality. You contribute, in close collaboration with the Communications Director and staff, to developing the central communication function and creating favorable conditions for effective, coordinated, and high-quality communication work. You lead approximately ten employees through trust-based leadership and have comprehensive personnel and work environment responsibility. The role includes conducting employee conversations, workplace meetings, and salary discussions, as well as developing and monitoring individual competency development plans. You are also responsible for recruitment and staffing, as well as for planning and ensuring good onboarding of new employees. You have budget responsibility for the unit, which includes both financial planning and ongoing monitoring. As a unit manager, you guide and support employees in daily communication work, make priorities based on organizational needs, and ensure effective resource allocation. During temporary peak workloads, you also need to be able to contribute with certain operational communication initiatives. In this role, you actively participate in region-wide internal communication networks and may also represent Region Gotland in external networks and collaborations. You are part of the department's management group, where you contribute your perspective and take shared responsibility for the department's development. Through your role, you also contribute to the development of the administration and Region Gotland as a whole. Who Are You? We are looking for someone with solid and current leadership experience and several years of experience in both strategic and operational work in communication and brand building. You have a university or college degree in a relevant field, or alternatively other post-secondary education that we assess as equivalent and suitable for the position. Furthermore, you have excellent ability to express yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. The position requires Swedish citizenship. The position is covered by security clearance, which means you need to undergo a security vetting and, if necessary, record checks before employment. It is advantageous if you have current management experience and leadership training. We also view positively if you have experience working in the public sector or in public sector assignments, as well as project management experience. Experience in crisis communication and emergency preparedness work is also advantageous. Additionally, a B-category driving license is advantageous. As a person, you are a confident and engaging leader who creates participation and clarity. You communicate clearly, have good judgment, and make well-founded priorities.
