We are seeking a warm, caring, and attentive personal assistant for Freja, available to start immediately. The position requires experience in qualified care and assistance work, as well as confidence working with individuals with significant disabilities. Therefore, we are primarily looking for candidates with previous experience in similar work. Given the close and personal nature of the work, we particularly welcome applications from women.
Freja is 19 years old and lives with significant disabilities. She is deafblind and has extensive support needs in her daily life, both physically and communicatively. The work therefore requires presence, patience, and a strong ability to read, interpret, and create a sense of security in both small and large situations.
Although Freja's daily life is limited by many challenges, it is important that you recognize her strengths, will, and personality. You need to be attentive to her subtle signals, able to analyze and interpret them correctly, and find ways to communicate and interact.
We are looking for someone with experience working with similar disabilities who feels confident meeting people with significant care needs. It is important that you can work calmly, with empathy, and with great respect for Freja's integrity and self-determination.
It is advantageous if you are:
Nursing assistant
Registered nurse
Special education teacher
Physiotherapist
Previous experience with personal assistance or other care work with similar needs is very valuable. It is also advantageous if you have experience with:
Deafblindness
CI (cochlear implant)
Transfers and handling of people with muscle weakness
Epilepsy, seizures, and acute medication
Secretion mobilization
Inhalations
Cough assist machine
Tube feeding
