Job Description Do you want to work on technically advanced industrial projects and be involved from idea to completed facility? We are now looking for a senior electrical design engineer who wants to take a key role in our assignments and contribute with both technical expertise and strong commitment to sustainable solutions. As an Electrical Design Engineer at AFRY, you work with the entire electrical design chain for industrial projects. You are responsible for developing electrical drawings, circuit diagrams, cable and connection lists, and material specifications using tools such as EPLAN or Elprocad. The role involves close collaboration with automation engineers, project managers, and customers to ensure solutions meet both technical requirements and operational needs. You drive the electrical design work from feasibility studies and concept development to completed delivery and commissioning. The work is varied and can include new construction, retrofitting, and modernization of production and process facilities within several industrial segments. As a central part of the project team, you contribute with technical guidance, quality assurance, and structure throughout project implementation. You work primarily from our office in Kalmar or on-site with customers, with the possibility of some remote work depending on the nature of the assignment. Qualifications To succeed in the electrical design engineer role, you need a problem-solving approach where you can quickly identify causes of problems in complex electrical designs, analyze different solutions, and choose the most effective way forward. You are business-minded and structured, meaning you plan and organize your work with order in drawings and documentation, and ensure the project follows agreed requirements, schedule, and budget. The role also requires you to be ambitious – you take responsibility for driving tasks forward, actively seek improvements, and stay updated on new technology. Finally, it is important that you are a team player who collaborates closely with colleagues and customers, shares knowledge, and contributes to a good work environment. Requirements Experience in electrical design within industry (manufacturing/process/food) and commissioning At least post-secondary education in automation/electrical design or equivalent experience Experience working in Eplan or Elprocad Experience with machine safety Swedish and English at professional level in speech and writing Meritorious Knowledge of standards for Safe Machinery Experience with multiple electrical design tools Knowledge/experience of control system programming (such as Siemens TIA Portal, ABB Control Builder/800xA) Additional Information Application deadline is 2026-09-30.
