JOB DUTIES
This position is directed toward our student groups with severe to moderate intellectual disabilities, where students have extensive needs for support and assistance throughout their school day. Together with other support staff and teachers, you form a close team that ensures each student has a safe, stimulating, and accessible learning environment based on their unique circumstances.
The role means that you are the student's extended arm, voice, and sense of security at school. Because the students have significant and combined needs for assistance, you seamlessly transition between educational support and practical care.
Your main job duties:
• Extensive personal care: Support with personal hygiene, toilet visits/diaper changes, meal situations, and transfers (where lifting and lifts are a natural part of daily work).
• Medical interventions: Handle medication and medical equipment (e.g., tube feeding/PEG, epilepsy medication, or suctioning) as per assigned delegation.
• Active communication support: Use and maintain the student's alternative communication methods throughout the day.
• Educational support: Assist the student in teaching (subject area focus) and in aesthetic, motor, and sensory stimulation activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements, you have:
• Training as a care assistant, nursing assistant, childcare worker, or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent.
• Documented experience in care work and familiarity with medical procedures (preferably tube/PEG feeding).
• Good physical stamina, as heavy lifting and transfers occur in the work.
• Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing to ensure documentation and emergency medical instructions.
Meritorious:
• Experience working in adapted schools or with individuals with severe intellectual disabilities/combined functional variations.
• Experience with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and TAKK (Sign Language as Alternative and Complementary Communication).
Personal qualities:
You are a person who radiates calm, stability, and warmth. Since students' daily condition varies, you need to be very flexible and attentive to subtle signals. You have a genuinely low-key approach and enjoy working in a close team where you support each other in all situations.
