Department of Pharmaceutical Biosciences The Department of Pharmaceutical Biosciences is an interdisciplinary environment where 10 research areas work to contribute to better medicines and a healthier world. More information about the department and its activities can be found at www.farmbio.uu.se/ Read more about our benefits and what it is like to work at Uppsala University We are looking for an economist who wants to work close to operations and strategically in a complex research and undergraduate education environment. Job Responsibilities You will work closely with colleagues in operational support, led by an administrative director. The position involves economics work for several research groups as well as at the department level. As an economist with us, you work with accounting, follow-up and analysis, and are responsible for preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial statements. The department has externally financed research projects, which means project planning, ongoing accounting and monitoring of projects, as well as reporting to external funders, are part of the ongoing work. Monitor and follow regulations and laws within the field of economics. As an economist, this means you independently manage administrative matters related to economics and can provide professional support to operations. You are unpretentious and work easily with others. Job responsibilities also include accounts receivable and payable, inventory management, etc. Operational support works together as a group, so other administrative tasks occur in the position. Qualifications University degree in economics or equivalent competence that the employer deems equivalent. At least 3 - 5 years of well-documented professional experience in qualified economics work. Documented experience in preparing budgets, financial statements, analysis, and forecasting work. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial monitoring. Very good skills in Excel and other office tools. To fit the role, you are expected to have the ability to work independently in economics while also wanting to be part of a pleasant, professional, and creative team. To succeed in the work, you should be thorough and service-oriented with a structured work approach. You are flexible and complete your tasks on time. You have the ability to handle situations where the workload is periodically high. You can manage multiple tasks simultaneously. The job requires an outward-facing and proactive approach and the ability to communicate financial information to people with different professional backgrounds in both Swedish and English. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability as independent, stable, and thorough, and how your experience and competence are assessed to complement and strengthen the administrative work within the department. Meritorious Experience with economics work in public sector operations and/or with a focus on university or higher education. Experience with the university's financial systems Raindance, Proceedo, and the salary system Primula is meritorious. Experience working with grant-financed research, EU-financed projects, and experience handling contracts is meritorious. About the Employment The position is permanent, probation may apply.
