PhD Student in Computer Vision for Measuring Breathing and Heart Rate from Video
Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan · Vollzeit
Brinellvägen 8, Stockholm, Schweden
Project Description Research Education Subject: Computer Science The goal of the project is to develop video-based methods for monitoring a person's physiological parameters, such as heart rate, breathing patterns, skin temperature, pupil dilation, etc. Physiological responses can be used to estimate underlying states such as concentration, anxiety, and depression, and are more difficult for the person to control than explicit behaviors (e.g., facial expressions and speech). Functioning systems in clinical and cognitive science practice typically require specialized measurement equipment that can disturb the person, so our video-based solution would be both scientifically interesting and practically useful. The project will be conducted in collaboration with researchers in perceptual neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet in Solna. Supervision: Prof. Hedvig Kjellström is proposed to supervise the PhD student. The decision will be made upon admission.
