Description The Rural Affairs Department is one of four departments at the County Administrative Board and is led by the Rural Director. The department consists of three units, each led by a unit manager. The department is responsible for animal welfare and veterinary matters as well as EU support including area-based and animal-based support, project and investment support, food strategy and project activities. You will work in the unit for animal welfare and veterinary matters together with several animal welfare officers, pre-examination officers and two veterinarians. The unit has ten employees who together contribute to the whole. Our mission is to work with animal welfare and other inspections within the food chain. We contribute to good animal welfare and ensure that food is produced safely on farms in the county. Work Tasks You will work with animal welfare inspections of farm animals and companion animals. Your work tasks include: planned animal welfare inspections investigation of complaint cases follow-up when deficiencies are identified examination of applications for permits for animal husbandry under the Animal Welfare Act matters under the Act on supervision of dogs and cats may occur Work tasks may vary over time depending on operational needs. Our activities change over time, which means you may have the opportunity to try other work tasks within the County Administrative Board. For example, it may become relevant to work with animal inspections within EU support programs. Qualifications We are looking for you who have academic education as an agronomist with livestock focus, ethology and animal welfare education, or biologist/environmental and health protection education with additional training in animal welfare good knowledge of animal welfare legislation B-class driver's license good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish good IT competence You can quickly familiarize yourself with regulations and IT systems. The position requires high standards for structured work methods and administrative competence. We place great importance on your personal qualities. You have good social skills and can contribute to a good work environment with us. You are communicative and good at building strong relationships, both internally and externally. In your role as a public authority representative, you are solution-oriented and have a professional approach. It is meritorious if you have professional experience from some County Administrative Board regarding animal welfare inspections of different animal species and preferably practical agricultural experience. Experience and interest in farm animals is particularly meritorious. Other Information Temporary position for approximately one year.
