Folkuniversitetet has extensive experience in Swedish for immigrants, adult education (Komvux), and other adult education programs. As one of two providers, we have been entrusted by Gothenburg City to deliver SFI and basic adult education. We are now seeking an additional coach for our operations to develop and oversee language practice placements for our students and to develop employer networks for our Talent education programs.
About the Position
The coach's work is a vital piece of the puzzle for our students' Swedish language development. As part of municipal adult education in Swedish for immigrants, students must complete language practice through work-based learning (VFL) up to 15 hours per week. Your task as a coach is to establish and develop an employer network that can receive our students for language practice, keep the network active, and ensure quality according to Gothenburg City's procedures.
As a coach, you will also be an important part of our team supporting the Talent education program. You will work closely with the responsible teacher on the design of the education and acquire and quality-assure practice placements with employers who have hiring needs in the specific industry the program covers. Your responsibilities include planning, organizing, and implementing practice placements aimed at helping students improve their opportunities to get closer to the job market and develop their Swedish. Simultaneously, you will actively search for new practice opportunities by contacting employers who match the students' competencies. You serve as support to students throughout the entire process toward employment.
Your Competence, Education, and Background
We seek someone with at least three years of documented professional experience working with practice placements, creating employer networks, and conducting coaching conversations. It is advantageous if you have a behavioral science background or training in some form of conversation methodology and/or coaching approach. As a person, you are secure and empathetic. You are clear and direct in your communication and dare to set expectations for students and collaboration partners. You need experience in and preferably already established networks in the industries for our Talent education programs, but also be interested in monitoring the external environment. You are responsible for the entire matching chain. This means you make careful assessments of students' language level, maturity, and practical prerequisites before a placement occurs. You prepare students for what is expected in a Swedish workplace, set clear expectations, and ensure they are ready to represent the organization in a professional manner. You are also responsible for follow-up during the practice period and reporting to school and municipality.
The administrative work involved in the job is part of the operations, and it is important that you understand and take responsibility for ensuring it is also completed. You are accustomed to working independently as well as in collaboration with others and have a solution-oriented approach. It is important that you are flexible, responsive, and organized.
We expect that you share our view on people's equal value and right to knowledge.
Personal Qualifications
You have a coaching and motivating approach, understanding of people's different circumstances, and enjoy working in a changing environment. Large parts of the position involve extensive collaboration with our students, our other coach, and our teachers, where your judgment, knowledge, and experience are directly decisive for our students' success. Since the work is partly administrative, you need to have good general computer skills and speak and write Swedish and English fluently. Additional language skills are advantageous.
As a person, you are service-oriented and have a professional demeanor. You have an easy time building trusting relationships with both students, teachers, and collaboration partners.
About the Employment
The position is 80% part-time and begins with a 6-month trial employment. The workplace is located in Lindholmen.
Application
