About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating existing ones and expanding, and we are now looking for more staff members. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the cycle of crime. When we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, remand facilities and inmate transportation. Probation Service Östergötland is expanding and currently has several new laws and changes to adapt to. The expansion creates opportunities and new staff members within various professional categories will need to be recruited in the coming years. We are now looking for a manager who, together with an existing manager, will be responsible for the Probation Service in Västervik. Job Description Within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, you work with a complex and important societal mission where you can make a difference. As a leader, you help your staff equip our clients in various ways to live a life without crime and drugs, what we call Better Out. As a manager, you lead, develop and monitor the operations and provide support to your staff in daily work. The role includes personnel, budget and work environment responsibility for staff members who work primarily as probation officers. You are expected to share responsibility with your colleagues for your own unit and, when needed, your colleagues' units. You will be two managers at the facility, which requires very good cooperation. You will be part of the management team for Probation Service Östergötland where the correctional chief and your colleagues form an important platform for your leadership. We are looking for someone who has: • An academic degree (at least bachelor's level), preferably in criminology, behavioral science, social work, HR, sociology or similar, or alternatively another academic education in combination with experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant. • Experience in personnel management • Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written It is also meritorious to have: • Documented leadership training, for example the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's management development program or other leadership training • Management experience (personnel, work environment and budget responsibility) • Experience working within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service • Experience from multiple operational areas within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service • Relevant experience from other public sector operations • Experience in public authority practice • Experience leading through change Other Information The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has chosen to remove the personal letter and replaced it with selection questions relevant to the position.
