We are now seeking an Insurance Chief who wants to lead and develop our insurance operations and contribute to a legally sound, efficient, and well-functioning administration of unemployment insurance.
Byggnads a-kassa has approximately 127,000 members who work as construction workers, painters, and in some cases as self-employed professionals in the painting trade. Our mission is to provide our members with financial security during unemployment. At our offices in Umeå, Borlänge, Stockholm, Helsingborg, and Malmö, around 60 employees work in various roles. The headquarters is located in Stockholm. Byggnads a-kassa works closely with Sekos a-kassa, including through a shared fund director and shared management group.
As Insurance Chief, you will be part of the management group and have overall responsibility for the insurance operations of both Byggnads and Sekos a-kassors. You lead and develop the operations with responsibility for employees, quality, competency development, work methods, and results.
You will manage seven employees consisting of insurance officers, insurance lawyers, and insurance specialists, and you have a central role in ensuring legally sound, consistent, and efficient administration of unemployment insurance.
The role combines strategic leadership with qualified specialist work. You are responsible for developing legal application, monitoring legal developments, and providing support in complex insurance law matters. You work closely with the fund director, operational managers, and other specialist functions.
Your responsibilities include:
• leading, coaching, and developing employees in the insurance operations
• ensuring legally sound and consistent administration of unemployment insurance
• preparing decision support materials for management and the board
• responsibility for method and regulation development in insurance operations
• responsibility for training initiatives and competency development within the organization
• monitoring legal developments and implementing new regulations, court rulings, and government decisions in operations
• participating in development projects and change management
• representing Byggnads and Sekos a-kassors in external contexts
To succeed in this role, we see that you:
• have experience interpreting and applying legislation in practice
• have experience in management with personnel responsibility
• have experience in change and development work
• have excellent ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing
It is advantageous if you:
• hold an academic degree in a field relevant to the role
• have extensive knowledge of unemployment insurance and relevant legislation
• have experience working in a management group
• have experience managing and developing knowledge-intensive specialist functions
