The Business Unit (VE) Neurosurgery at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) is one of seven neurosurgical units in Sweden and serves the Southern Healthcare Region with highly specialized care. We treat patients with injuries and diseases of the brain and spinal cord. We have an operating department, neuro-intensive care unit, inpatient ward, outpatient clinic and a reception. VE Neurosurgery is part of the Business Area (VO) Neurosurgery and Pain Rehabilitation, which is located in Lund. 1 position(s). JOB DUTIES We are seeking an Associate Professor in Neurosurgery at VE Neurosurgery in Lund. Your responsibilities include surgical operations, neuro-intensive care, on-call duty, as well as clinic and ward work. Other duties may also occur, such as the role of unit-responsible physician and responsibility for skull base surgery. We offer you varied and stimulating work with a high degree of independent decision-making. The main placement is in Lund, but service at other locations may occur. QUALIFICATIONS You who are applying are a licensed physician with authorization to practice within Swedish healthcare and have: - specialist competence in neurosurgery. - Swedish language skills corresponding at least to level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale. - completed or planned clinical supervision course. - full-time service of at least three years (documented effective time). - clinical skill and independence within neurosurgery. - completed or planned clinical supervisor training. - documented teaching and supervision credentials. Defense of dissertation and/or specialist examination can be credited as equivalent to a total of six months of clinical service. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. At a university healthcare unit, physicians must have pedagogical experience and training. You may have acquired this through supervision of, for example, nursing and medical students as well as physicians in training and as co-supervisor or main supervisor of doctoral candidates. Clearly describe in your application completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience of supervision and teaching at different levels.
