We are now seeking a biomedical analyst or nurse for the Point of Care and Pre-analytical Services unit, Laboratory Medicine area of activity, at Universitetssjukhuset Örebro. As an employee in Point of Care and Pre-analytical Services, you will work in a team with biomedical analysts, nurses, nursing assistants and specimen specialists. The unit contains several support functions of the Laboratory Medicine area of activity such as specimen reception, IT, quality and also patient and customer-oriented activities such as specimen collection, customer service and PNA.
Duties
Your tasks will vary depending on your professional qualifications. As a biomedical analyst, tasks are mainly at specimen reception and specimen collection. As a nurse, tasks are mainly at specimen collection and to some extent at specimen reception.
At specimen reception we perform pre-analytical processing on samples to be sent to clinical chemistry, clinical microbiology, clinical immunology as well as samples included in research and studies. The work is highly varied and it is important to be able to manage several tasks in parallel. Here, collaboration with colleagues is crucial to how the day is shaped.
At specimen collection we perform venous and capillary blood collection and stress tests on both adults and children. We assist as needed with specimen collection at wards and clinics at the hospital.
Qualifications
Licensed biomedical analyst with a focus on laboratory medicine or licensed nurse.
We place great importance on you providing customers, patients and colleagues with good service and that you have high service and responsibility awareness. You are stress-resilient and able to work with multiple tasks simultaneously in a structured, quality-conscious and thorough manner. You have good collaboration skills and also contribute to the development of the operation.

About the operation
The Laboratory Medicine area of activity has overall responsibility for laboratory medical services provided at the laboratories within Universitetssjukhuset Örebro, Karlskoga lasarett and Lindesbergs lasarett. We operate a broad range of activities in clinical chemistry, bacteriology, virology, immunology, transfusion medicine including therapeutic plasmapheresis treatment, pathology, cytology and molecular genetics. The Sterile Technique unit is also part of the area of activity. Nearly 300 people work here with routine diagnostics, research and development and education.
