Do you want to be part of developing Umeå Municipality's work with civil emergency preparedness? We are now looking for an engaged and development-oriented emergency preparedness coordinator who wants to help strengthen the municipality's resilience.
The Security Unit is tasked with coordinating, supporting, following up, and developing the municipality's work on security and civil emergency preparedness. In addition to crisis preparedness and civil defense work, the Security Unit is responsible for coordinating the municipality's efforts in information security, security protection, insurance coverage, internal security, and initiatives to counteract organized crime and welfare fraud. The unit has 12 employees and is organizationally located at the City Executive Office, within the Civil Protection and Preparedness Department. The issues the unit is responsible for are governed politically by the Municipal Council.
Your responsibilities
As an emergency preparedness coordinator at the City Executive Office, you will primarily work across the municipality on preparedness matters such as risk and vulnerability analysis, continuity planning, population protection, and preparations for societal disruptions, heightened readiness, and war. You will have a central role in the municipality's work to develop robust processes and structures that strengthen our ability to handle crises, and you will be part of the municipality's crisis organization.
In your work, you will coordinate and support the municipality's other operations and companies, as well as collaborate with external actors such as the regional county administrative board, the armed forces, and civil society.
Your responsibilities are linked to tasks within municipal civil emergency preparedness. The role as an emergency preparedness coordinator means you will drive, develop, and follow up on work within the areas and tasks you are responsible for. Travel is part of the position.
About you
We are looking for someone with a relevant university or college degree in social sciences, political science, risk management, crisis preparedness, societal security, or other relevant education or experience that the employer considers relevant for the task.
Experience with security protection, continuity planning, crisis and war organization, comprehensive defense planning, and work with civil society is meritorious.
To succeed in the role as emergency preparedness coordinator, you need to be driven, structured, and responsible. You are analytical, have good problem-solving skills, and thrive in a role where you get to combine coordination, development work, and initiatives that translate plans into action.
