Visby Hospital's maternity and postpartum ward is a small unit that puts the patient at the center. We have excellent camaraderie and a family-oriented culture with good pair care, a cohesive care chain, and high continuity.
Our obstetrics and gynecology operations include delivery, postpartum care, and gynecological services where we work very closely together. We offer both 3-shift and 2-shift work arrangements in accordance with current labor agreements.

Your Responsibilities
As a licensed midwife with us, you will work with deliveries, postpartum care, and to some extent gynecological patients.
You will manage both normal and complicated deliveries and work in a team with nursing assistants and physicians. We aim for high presence in the delivery room, following the principle of "one laboring woman - one midwife" so that together we can create a good birth experience for the family.
During the postpartum period, you will support the parents together with a nursing assistant in their new roles as parents, with a strong focus on zero separation, skin-to-skin contact, and breastfeeding.
In the gynecological ward, we primarily care for sick and post-operative patients, as well as those undergoing terminations and antepartum patients. This work is primarily handled by our nurses, but midwives fill in during their absence.
On Gotland, you get time with the laboring woman - which provides security for her and is a strength of our unit.
Who Are You?
You are a licensed midwife. We are looking for someone who is relatively new to the role of midwife or someone who is already confident in your professional role as a midwife. You have some experience with postpartum care and preferably also from work on a gynecological ward. It is a merit if you also have experience with parent education programs in some form.
You have a receptive and humble approach, and you enjoy working collaboratively with families and have a good ability to cooperate both internally and across boundaries with other units. We value a genuine interest in working within women's health and gynecological care and the initiative to further develop this field.
