As a department manager, you are responsible for the Swedish Public Employment Service's operational verification of job seekers and will lead a socially important operation where legal certainty and quality are at the center. Department Mission The Correct Payments operational area is responsible for the Swedish Public Employment Service's verification activities. The assignment includes, among other things, verification of benefits to job seekers and work to prevent incorrect payments and welfare fraud. The operational area has agency-wide responsibility for verification before, during, and after decisions. The responsibility covers verification of job seekers, employers, suppliers, and employees. The operational area shall also monitor and drive development, efficiency improvements, and learning within the verification activities. The department is responsible for the Swedish Public Employment Service's verification of the conditions for benefits to job seekers. The operation is conducted in three units and 17 sections with staff in Norrköping, Köping, Falun, and Östersund. Through review, investigation, and decisions on sanctions, the department contributes to legally certain case handling and to preventing incorrect payments. Department Manager's Assignment and Responsibility Your assignment as department manager includes overall responsibility for operations, budget, and personnel for the department's activities. You ensure that the department's results match established goals and expectations. As a department manager, you are part of the operational area's management group and, together with the operational area director and other departments, will jointly be responsible for the entire operational area's results, development, and continued renewal. You have an important assignment in creating a well-functioning management group and, together with the unit managers, drive and develop the operation. You enable strong performance, high satisfaction, and a good work environment by working in accordance with the Swedish Public Employment Service's leadership criteria. You foster a culture characterized by trust, openness, and security. Your work occurs in strong partnership within and outside your own department and in good cooperation with labor organizations. Basic Requirements for the Position Current experience in management with responsibility for operations, budget, and personnel, where you have managed other managers As well as Experience leading and implementing organization-wide change and development initiatives Experience managing operations that include agency authority, verification, investigation, case handling, or decision-making Experience serving in a management group and driving shared matters together with other managers Experience in cooperation with internal and external stakeholders as well as other agencies Relevant academic education, or equivalent experience/competence acquired in another way Additional Merits for the Position Experience managing a large operational activity with high case volumes and clear requirements for quality, productivity, and delivery Experience with results-based management, operation monitoring, and systematic improvement work Experience ensuring consistent and legally certain application of regulations in a case-handling operation Experience with operations related to labor market issues Experience managing operations with staff at multiple locations To succeed in the role, you need to have The ability to effectively communicate vision, goals, and values Strong analytical abilities and the ability to handle large amounts of information The state values guide us in our daily work.
