Region Sörmland, Eskilstuna, Katrineholm and Nyköping About Us Region Sörmland encompasses four hospitals and 18 regional health centers along with 12 private health centers, distributed across the region's nine municipalities. We employ approximately 7,500 people, of whom approximately 6,400 work within healthcare. AT training is conducted at Kullbergska sjukhuset in Katrineholm, Mälarsjukhuset in Eskilstuna, and Nyköpings lasarett. In Region Sörmland, the AT physician is an important part of our operations, and we therefore place great emphasis on personal suitability during hiring. Our goal is that after your AT training in Sörmland, you will have received solid clinical and theoretical education and be well-prepared for your future career. We maintain ongoing dialogue with our AT physicians regarding the structure of the training. As an AT physician, you will have an AT supervisor throughout your service period and the opportunity to engage in local AT councils. We offer a 21-month AT program because we believe that with longer and continuous placements in inpatient clinics, you will learn more, become an independent and confident licensed physician. Additionally, we can offer you the opportunity for observation weeks at smaller clinics and elective weeks. The AT service comprises 21 months, distributed as follows: • Six months in internal medicine. • Six months in surgery. • Three months in psychiatry. • Six months in primary care. You have a very high level of language proficiency, at least C1 (requirement for licensure according to the National Board of Health and Welfare). Knowledge You are expected to be able to apply your practical and theoretical knowledge from medical school under supervision in clinical practice. Personal Qualities and Competence We make a comprehensive assessment of your ability to work as an AT physician and be an engaged colleague in our operations. Introduction Week The introduction week includes information about the hospital and Region Sörmland, as well as reviews of important medical and administrative procedures and training in the data system (Cosmic). New AT physicians also have the opportunity to meet other AT physicians, union representatives, study directors, AT supervisors, and management. The introduction week takes place the week before the start of the 21-month clinical training. At the beginning of each placement, participants undergo a well-planned and structured introduction that includes both theoretical lectures and practical exercises. Supervision Each placement has a personal supervisor who is responsible for the AT physician's training. Study directors and the AT supervisor are also available for discussion, advice, and support as needed. The AT supervisor is the primary supervisor. Training One afternoon per week is allocated for training, supervision, seminars, or individual study.
