We are seeking contact with experienced work leaders who have worked with ship outfitting, marine outfitting, or related installation work onboard vessels. This is not a published position or an ongoing recruitment for a named employer. The purpose is to identify and initiate a preliminary dialogue with individuals who may be relevant for future consulting assignments. About the Possible Role In the role as work leader, you are responsible for leading and coordinating practical work in international ship projects. The projects may include multiple technical disciplines, such as: ship outfitting and marine outfitting, insulation, pipe installations, ventilation, electrical installations, sheet metal and steel work, other technical installations onboard. You work closely with project management, fitters, subcontractors, shipyards, and other partners. The role requires an understanding of the materials, methods, and conditions that apply during new construction, reconstruction, and renovation of ships. Example Work Tasks In a future assignment, you may, among other things: lead and distribute daily work on site, coordinate different trades and subcontractors, ensure that work follows drawings, specifications, and schedules, follow up on quality, progress, and working environment, handle practical problems and deviations during production, report status and resource needs to project management, communicate with international clients, shipyards, and partners, contribute to ensuring that work is carried out safely, efficiently, and with the right quality. Travel and Work Arrangement Future assignments may be carried out at shipyards and vessels in Sweden or abroad. The role may therefore involve extensive international travel and work at other locations for extended consecutive periods. Assignments may, for example, involve several weeks of work on-site without returning home on weekends. Periods of intensive work may be followed by consecutive time off or periods with lower utilization. It is therefore important that you have the ability and willingness to work in a travel-intensive and periodically irregular arrangement. We Are Seeking Contact with You If You Have at least ten years of experience from the ship, shipyard, or maritime industry, several years of experience as a work leader, supervisor, site manager, or equivalent, experience with ship outfitting, marine outfitting, reconstruction, or new construction of ships, understanding of multiple technical disciplines onboard, experience reading drawings, specifications, and technical documents, experience leading fitters and subcontractors, ability to work professionally in English, ability to travel internationally for extended consecutive periods. Experience from traditional construction production or land-based outfitting is not sufficient in itself. This type of assignment requires special understanding of ship environments, marine materials, steel structures, and working methods onboard. Meritorious Experience It is an advantage if you have: worked with passenger vessels, ferries, RoRo, RoPax, or cruise ships, experience from major European or international shipyards, lead work within multiple technical disciplines, worked with international and multilingual work teams, relevant safety or occupational health training, experience with digital reporting, documentation, and deviation management. Any requirements for certificates, safety training, and medical certifications will be determined for each assignment. Personal Qualities We are seeking contact with individuals who are: confident and clear in your leadership, practically minded and solution-oriented, structured even under time pressure, accustomed to making decisions close to production, communicative in international work environments, flexible with changing project conditions, quality-conscious and responsible. Possible Future Arrangement This is a confidential and unconditional competency survey for possible future assignments. Therefore, no specific position, client, start date, or type of employment can be presented at this time. Future assignments may become relevant as consulting assignments, temporary staffing, or recruitment depending on the assignment's conditions and the candidate's background. Submitting an expression of interest does not guarantee employment, consulting assignment, or further process. Expression of Interest If you have relevant experience and want to be part of Folcon's network for future maritime assignments, you are welcome to register your interest.
