Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AMM) is a highly specialized, research-based operation with an overarching mandate to prevent and reduce occupational and environmental health problems among residents in Region Sörmland, Region Värmland, Region Västmanland and Region Örebro län. AMM consists of three units with approximately 40 employees who possess broad expertise across many different professions. We work outward-facing and serve primary care, occupational health services, municipalities, government agencies, organizations, universities, colleges, companies and private individuals. The AMM laboratory offers accredited chemical analysis of substances found in the work and ambient environment that may pose health risks. Read more about Occupational and Environmental Medicine at http://www.regionorebrolan.se/amm Job Responsibilities In this position, you will work independently with analysis of environmental samples, primarily air samples, using various techniques. We have a modern instrument fleet including gas and liquid chromatographs with mass spectrometry (MS/MS), ion chromatograph, ICP-MS (elemental analysis), X-ray diffractometer (quartz analysis) and also employ gravimetric methods (dust). Development work on new analytical methods may occur. Project work may also take place, in which case you will work in teams with professionals such as biomedical scientists, occupational hygienists and medical personnel. The laboratory at Occupational and Environmental Medicine is accredited by SWEDAC and in our daily work we use the quality management system as support. We have a large customer base spread throughout the country and the work involves extensive customer contact in the form of analysis orders and to some extent consultation. The laboratory employs 17 people, of whom 8.5 perform laboratory work. Your position will be at Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Universitetssjukhuset in Örebro. Your immediate supervisor will be the unit manager of the clinic's laboratory unit. Our benefits include flexible working hours and wellness allowance. Qualifications You have academic education in chemistry and experience with analytical work using instrumental methods. Previous experience with ion chromatography, as well as liquid chromatography with UV and MS/MS detection is meritorious. As a person, you are independent in your work approach and take initiative to solve problems that arise in analytical work. You are flexible and responsive to the laboratory's and operation's needs and conditions. The work also requires that you are organized and quality-conscious. You must have good ability to communicate in Swedish and English both orally and in writing.
