Associated Clinical Instructor (ACI) at Sachsskas Children's and Youth Hospital
We are seeking a new Associated Clinical Instructor (ACI) as one of our staff members will be on parental leave. The ACI position is 20-40% and will be combined with clinical work as a pediatric nurse within the organization. The goal is to have two Associated Clinical Instructors within the operational area who collaborate to support students and supervisors in various ways.
The position encompasses work-integrated learning (WIL) for nursing students at Sachsskas Children's and Youth Hospital. WIL is a collective term for pedagogical models based on collaboration and integration between higher education and working life. WIL can take the form of work-integrated education (WIE), study visits, observation, shadowing, or field studies in open and closed health care, social services, or other relevant settings.
The ACI role with us is engaging and stimulating for someone who wants to work independently in close collaboration with student coordinators, supervisors, nurses, and the responsible lecturer/professor at Karolinska Institute. Together, you will contribute to providing the best education for future colleagues. The work is personally developmental, and you will also have the opportunity to develop and evaluate various pedagogical models.
Work tasks:
To strengthen the quality of students' WIL, you as an ACI will:
Plan for and introduce students to WIL.
Support students in the work-integrated learning situation, for example through reflective conversations.
Support clinical supervisors in the work-integrated learning situation.
Participate in mid-term and final assessments of students.
Collaborate with the lecturer/professor in the educational institution's planning and implementation of clinical examinations where applicable.
ActivelyParticipate in pedagogical meetings with the responsible lecturer/professor.
Work with the clinical lecturer/professor to develop WIL and follow up on and disseminate results from completed evaluations.
Coordinate WIL within the operational area.
Attend relevant seminars and training organized by the educational institution and/or CKU (Center for Clinical Education).
The position is temporary for up to two years with the possibility of extension. The assignment is 20-40% and will be combined with a permanent position as a pediatric nurse at Sachsskas Children's and Youth Hospital.
Qualifications:
Licensed pediatric nurse in pediatric and adolescent medicine, master's degree in an appropriate subject area, and higher education pedagogy training equivalent to at least 7.5 higher education credits. If a master's degree is lacking, a plan must be presented for how it will be obtained during the adjunct period.
