Subject Description Structural Engineering includes loads, design, sustainability, load carrying capacity, repair and strengthening, of buildings and civil engineering structures made of concrete, steel, wood and other materials, separately or in combination, at normal conditions, in cold climate and in fire. Project Description The project, Semi-Probabilistic Assessment of Infrastructure under Climate Impacts, develops and applies semi-probabilistic and probabilistic methods to assess the current and future load-bearing capacity of existing infrastructure, taking into account climate change and non-stationary environmental conditions. The objective is to link reliability-based research to practically applicable decision-support tools for infrastructure managers and public authorities. The work is closely linked to research in bridge monitoring, condition assessment, and data-driven infrastructure management. Data from case studies (inspections, monitoring, and experimental tests) are used for model updating, calibration of safety formats, and prediction of future performance and remaining service life. Duties You will conduct research with strong methodological and applied components, leading to publications in peer-reviewed international journals and presentations at major conferences. Your work will include: Develop semi-probabilistic and probabilistic frameworks for the assessment of existing infrastructure under climate impact Integrate time-dependent deterioration models with climate projections Update models using monitoring and inspection data Calibrate and compare safety formats Translate analytical results into decision-support tools Contribute to supervision, teaching, and research proposals Qualifications To be eligible for this postdoctoral position, you must hold a PhD in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field, with specialization in structural reliability, probabilistic methods, infrastructure assessment, or durability. Regional Antiquarian/Cultural Heritage Officer

In 2011, Swebrec competence center, which focuses on blasting technology, detonation and fragmentation, became part of the rock engineering subject. Job Responsibilities As a research assistant, you will be part of the Mining and Rock Engineering division. You will primarily work with Wilhelm Åberg on a research project investigating grouting. Your tasks will mainly consist of participating in grouting mortar laboratory work and independently performing lighter lab tests. Project Description Deep underground mining of critical raw materials requires rapid and reliable design decisions under limited and continuously evolving geological and geomechanical information. Although empirical stability diagram methods are still widely used in underground mines due to their practical utility and transparency, application remains largely manual, static, and limited in handling design-stage uncertainties. The project aims to develop a digital and updatable stability diagram workflow that enables rapid and risk-informed design of underground mines by structuring geological, geomechanical, geometric, and backfill-related data within a transparent and traceable digital framework for stability assessment and engineering decision support. The project combines empirical rock mechanics, geological interpretation, case-based mine design analysis, and digital workflow development. Focus will be on uncertainties in preliminary mine design, the behavior of backfilled stopes under sequential mining, and integration of digital geological and geomechanical data sources such as 3D point clouds and discontinuity mapping. A prototype tool for digital stability diagram analysis will be developed and evaluated using representative cases from underground mines, while laying the foundation for future probabilistic and AI-assisted applications in mine design. Responsibilities Develop and apply a digital workflow for stability assessment of stopes based on the Stability Graph Method. Compile, structure, and analyze geological, geomechanical, structural, and production-related data from underground mines. Investigate sources of uncertainty, the behavior of backfilled stopes, and the stability of rock cavities during sequential mining. Apply digital methods for analyzing geological and geomechanical data, including point cloud analysis and discontinuity mapping. ST Physician in Pediatrics, Gällivare Hospital
The Pediatrics Department in Norrbotten is a county clinic under the Division of Medicine and Acute Care. Our pediatric and adolescent medicine and pediatric and adolescent rehabilitation specialties work closely together, with extensive collaboration with child and adolescent psychiatry and other care partners within and outside Region Norrbotten. We also collaborate extensively with all municipalities in Norrbotten. The largest pediatric operations are located at Gällivare and Sunderby hospitals, where the county's inpatient care is also provided. Pediatric outpatient clinics operate in Gällivare, Sunderby, Piteå, Kalix, and Kiruna, and all locations except Kiruna also have pediatric and adolescent rehabilitation services. The Gällivare operation has just over 50 employees with diverse expertise. The operation is primarily based in Gällivare, with a smaller clinic in Kiruna. The catchment area has a small population but covers a large geographic area. Due to the vast distances, we run a multifaceted operation handling virtually all patient categories. You will be part of a research team with researchers from our university as well as external researchers from the research institute RISE, who are experts in methodology for policy development. The research includes further development of an existing Python model as well as data collection on asset management of municipal infrastructure. Together with other researchers in the team, you will design workshops to be conducted with municipal partners, with the aim of understanding current coordination procedures for asset management of multifunctional infrastructure and developing tools to support their work.
