The position is with a man in his 60s who has MS and uses a wheelchair. Your responsibilities will be to assist with everything that comes up in daily life. The work includes helping with basic everyday needs and occasionally accompanying the client to various activities/family gatherings. His main interests are hockey, football, and harness racing, but also films/series. If you share any interests with him, that's a positive, but absolutely not a requirement. You don't need any prior experience to work for him as he provides on-site supervision and has a team of good assistants available. Schedules/shifts are always between 6:45-14:15, 13:45-21:15, and nights 20:45-07:15 on both weekdays and weekends. I have cognitive, autism, and ADHD disabilities which means I don't speak with words and need help with all daily life activities as well as social interaction and communication. I can walk but sometimes need support to get around, and when I need to travel longer distances I use a wheelchair. Sometimes I can be extra rambunctious and active and then I run, so you need to be quite fast to keep up and make sure I don't put myself in danger. I also need a lot of active help with eating, using the toilet/changing diapers, hygiene, getting dressed, and playing.
