International Student Ambassadors: Chinese Social Media Focus
Gothenburg University strives to be an international higher education institution that attracts international students. Today, we offer approximately 80 master's programs and several bachelor's programs in English that are open to international applicants. To communicate with prospective and current international students, we use student ambassadors – current students who can represent the university and share their experiences of studying at Gothenburg University. Student ambassadors also participate in the university's welcome program and various events throughout the academic year to give international students a good start to their studies. As part of our international outreach efforts, we are active on various Chinese social media platforms, where our student ambassadors play a key role in representing the university to prospective students from China. The position is at the Communications Unit, which is part of the university's central administration. From our program: "We meet and have coffee & socialize, sometimes cook dinner together, organize activities and try to find calm and space for safe conversations and supportive companionship. Activities are decided together" The idea is to offer the opportunity to meet others and talk about thoughts and feelings, and share experiences and stories that people can relate to. But also to build social connections and exist in a social context that is supportive and validating.
