Forensic Psychiatry in Skåne is part of the Department of Psychiatry, Rehabilitation and Assistive Devices and operates in Trelleborg, Malmö, Helsingborg, Kristianstad, and Hässleholm. We care for approximately 300 patients and provide both inpatient and outpatient services, allowing us to follow patients over time. All patients begin their care in inpatient settings and can then transition to outpatient forensic psychiatric care. To meet patients' care needs, various professionals are assigned to each patient. Care content and delivery are well documented in the department's ISO-certified management system. Forensic Psychiatry cares for individuals court-ordered to forensic psychiatric care under the Forensic Psychiatric Care Act (LRV). The most common diagnoses are psychotic disorders with significant functional impairment, often combined with substance use.
