We are seeking a university lecturer in medical science for a permanent position at the Department of Medical Sciences. The position is a combined appointment with Region Örebro County. Subject Area The subject area for this position is medical science with a focus on precision diagnostics. Background At the Department of Medical Sciences (MV), undergraduate medical education, standalone courses in biomedicine, and postgraduate education and research in medical science are conducted. The Department has approximately 200 employees divided into five units, one of which is purely administrative. Research at MV has access to modern laboratory infrastructure, advanced sequencing platforms, regional biobank operations, and clinical data environments. This enables studies with direct links to patient-centered diagnostics and implementation of precision medicine methods in healthcare. The Faculty of Medicine and Health, together with Örebro University Hospital, participates in an initiative for the development and implementation of precision medicine for Swedish healthcare, Genomic Medicine Sweden (GMS). Additionally, MV is a host node for Clinical Genomics (CG) Örebro, part of Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab), Sweden's largest research infrastructure for life science. This position offers the opportunity to lead and further develop the university's engagement in these national initiatives. Duties As a university lecturer, you will divide your time between teaching at all levels and research, as well as associated collaboration. In addition to teaching, research, and collaboration, the position includes development work, administration, and professional development. Teaching also encompasses supervision, examination, course development, planning, and evaluation. This position is combined with clinical practice. The scientific part of the position includes conducting independent research, initiating and developing research projects, and actively seeking external research funding. The research should contribute to the emerging infrastructure for precision diagnostics and have natural connections with the development and implementation of next generation sequencing (NGS)-based methods within the framework of GMS and SciLifeLab Clinical Genomics, where opportunities for collaboration and clinical translation are particularly strong. In addition to the above, a specific mandate includes developing and leading Örebro University's participation and engagement in GMS- and CG-related projects and structures. This strategic assignment is estimated to correspond to 25-40% of the employment. The position is a combined appointment with 30% clinical practice. Qualifications To be eligible for appointment as a university lecturer, you must demonstrate pedagogical skill and hold a doctoral degree in a subject area relevant to the position, or possess equivalent scientific competence or other professional skills that are important given the subject content and duties of the position. A general qualification requirement for appointment as a teacher is completion of higher education pedagogy training corresponding to at least 10 weeks. Örebro University and the School of Science and Technology are looking for a doctoral student (PhD student) for the doctoral programme in Chemistry, concluding with a doctoral degree. Project description The doctoral student will be part of the research project COAST PFAS – Coastal PFAS Transition Lab for Source Control, Substitution and Governance, a transdisciplinary initiative addressing the spread of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from urban and industrial sources to coastal environments. The project combines environmental analytical chemistry, wastewater and stormwater research, process understanding, and systems perspectives to support preventive and sustainable PFAS management. The PhD project is connected to the work package PFAS flows from land to sea, which focuses on identifying, mapping, and quantifying PFAS sources and transport pathways in urban water systems and coastal environments. The research will include targeted and non-targeted PFAS analysis in wastewater, stormwater, industrial effluents, and receiving waters. The research will also include the development of sector-specific PFAS fingerprints and mass-balance approaches. The doctoral student will work with advanced analytical methods including LC-MS/MS, combustion ion chromatography, extractable organofluorine (EOF), oxidation methods for PFAS precursors, and high-resolution mass spectrometry for suspect and non-target screening. The work also includes interpretation of large analytical datasets and integration of results into source-tracking and fate-assessment frameworks. The project is conducted in close collaboration between IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, Chalmers University of Technology, Örebro University, VA SYD, and Malmö City. The doctoral student will be part of an interdisciplinary and international research environment involving analytical chemistry, environmental engineering, and sustainability research. Nurse for Unit 1, Karlahuset
Unit 1 has 14 care beds and is located at Karlahuset in Örebro, conveniently situated close to the city center and with good access to bus and train connections. We are a wonderful team of approximately 35 employees consisting of nurses and care assistants. We primarily care for patients with psychotic disorders and work closely with the psychosis care outpatient team that is also located in the building. We also maintain close collaboration with other psychiatric care units in the county and with social psychiatry services in the municipalities. Duties As a nurse, you will have a leadership function and responsibility for psychiatric care of inpatients together with other professionals. You will participate in rounds and perform standard nursing tasks such as medication management, assessments, and documentation.
