Nerikes Brandkår is a municipal federation where Örebro, Kumla, Hallsberg, Lekeberg, Laxå, Askersund, Nora, Lindesberg, and Ljusnarsberg collaborate on rescue services and accident prevention activities. We are one of Sweden's largest rescue service federations with 28 fire stations, approximately 500 employees, and a service area covering about 260,000 residents. We are in an exciting period of expansion and development. The operational collaboration Räddningsregion Bergslagen started in 2020, and in November 2023, the joint command center Seglet was completed, where we collaborate with the Police and SOS Alarm. In early 2026, an additional fire station, Station Öster, was inaugurated in Örebro. The Public Safety Unit works to prevent accidents, primarily related to fire. This is done through collaboration with other authorities and organizations, conducting inspections according to LSO and LBE, and issuing permits according to LBE. The unit also handles chimney sweeping matters. In addition, the unit works with information and advisory services to the public in the area of fire safety.
