Nerikes Brandkår is a municipal federation where Örebro, Kumla, Hallsberg, Lekeberg, Laxå, Askersund, Nora, Lindesberg, and Ljusnarsberg collaborate on rescue services and accident prevention activities. We are one of Sweden's largest rescue service federations with 28 fire stations, approximately 500 employees, and a service area covering about 260,000 residents.
We are in an exciting period of expansion and development. The operational collaboration Räddningsregion Bergslagen started in 2020, and in November 2023, the joint command center Seglet was completed, where we collaborate with the Police and SOS Alarm.
In early 2026, an additional fire station, Station Öster, was inaugurated in Örebro.
The Public Safety Unit works to prevent accidents, primarily related to fire. This is done through collaboration with other authorities and organizations, conducting inspections according to LSO and LBE, and issuing permits according to LBE. The unit also handles chimney sweeping matters. In addition, the unit works with information and advisory services to the public in the area of fire safety.
We need to strengthen our team with two additional fire safety engineers to the unit for a rewarding and enjoyable assignment.

About the Positions
As a fire safety engineer, you will be one of our experts on various types of risks. Your work tasks will cover the entire unit's area, from inspections and permit approvals to handling referrals and collaboration internally and externally. You may also conduct accident investigations and fire site examinations depending on your experience and interests.
Your geographic work area will span the entire federation, so you will be mobile in your daily work.
The primary placement of the position is by agreement.
Development Opportunities
If you are interested, we view positively your desire to also develop within our operational activities. Positions that may become relevant include, for example, On-Duty Chief or Regional Operations Commander.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is a fire safety engineer.
It is meritorious but not required if you have:
MCF's advanced training in rescue services for fire safety engineers (RUB).
Experience with preventive work in municipal rescue services.
Experience in risk management.
MCF's course in fire site examination and accident investigation.
A Class B driver's license is required.
Position Competency Profile
The positions involve numerous internal and external contacts, so we consider good collaboration skills important. A large part of the work involves writing and editing texts and sometimes providing advice verbally, communicating information and decisions, among other things. We therefore see that you have good communication skills and are confident expressing yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
You are self-directed and take responsibility for your tasks. This requires that you are organized and plan your work in advance. You set and meet deadlines. Furthermore, you are analytical and have the ability to gather and analyze important information to make decisions.
We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Employment Type and Start Date
We offer you a permanent full-time position.
The positions are security-classified and require Swedish citizenship. A security vetting with background check will be conducted.
Employment includes civil emergency placement, which means you can be called to serve in the event of heightened preparedness within civil defense.
Start date by agreement.
