About Meal Services Uddevalla Municipality The Meal Services and Facilities Management department is responsible for food in the municipality's preschools, schools and kitchens within elderly care operated by the municipality. Within Meal Services, there are approximately 160 employees distributed across approximately 50 kitchens. In each cooking kitchen, both chefs and meal assistants work. How many work in the kitchen depends on the kitchen's size and number of children. The number of portions prepared varies between 20 and 2,500 per day. Meal Services strives to prepare as much food as possible from scratch. Our main goal is for the food to taste good, be nutritious and contribute to good eating habits. The meal should also provide guests with an opportunity for a calm and pleasant moment during the day. Ljungskileskolan is an F–6 school in Uddevalla with approximately 400 students. In the kitchen, you work together with two chefs and two meal assistants. The kitchen prepares food for school and after-school activities and serves breakfast, lunch and snacks. Job Responsibilities: Contribute to serving good and nutritious food that meets guests' needs Responsible for serving, dishwashing and other tasks in the cooking kitchen Contribute to good relationships with guests and customers Help ensure the restaurant and serving area are welcoming, maintain high service standards and work to reduce food waste. Perform self-inspection work according to current procedures Contribute to a good work environment Ensure that portion statistics are recorded Contribute to development of the operation Job Requirements You have upper secondary education in large-scale cooking or restaurant service, or alternatively education or experience that we consider equivalent. You have good knowledge of special diets, food hygiene, nutrition science and self-inspection. You have good collaboration skills, take initiative and are service-oriented. You have good computer skills. You speak and write Swedish fluently. Beyond education and experience, we are looking for someone with great commitment to good, well-prepared and healthy food. You are creative when it comes to food and meals, open to new ways of working and have a positive attitude toward developing in your professional role. We hope you will enjoy working with us! About the Workplace Meals is responsible for food in preschools, schools, and kitchens within elderly care operated by the municipality. The Meals unit comprises approximately 170 employees distributed across about 50 kitchens, where between 20 and 2,500 portions are prepared each day. Each production kitchen has a head cook who works together with meal service assistants, depending on the kitchen's size. In some kitchens, solo work occurs. It is important to understand and participate in Meals' self-control program and follow it. We strive to prepare as much food as possible from scratch. Our goal is to serve delicious, nutritious meals of high quality that contribute to a positive meal experience for our guests. Work Tasks As a temporary staff member within Meals, you replace regular staff during absences. You input your own availability in our booking system and are subsequently booked based on the operation's needs and your availability. Working hours vary and bookings often occur on short notice; weekend work may occur. As a cook, you are responsible for planning and work direction in the kitchen as well as preparing food from scratch. Work tasks include preparing breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner as well as dishwashing, cleaning, and other follow-up work. As a meal service assistant, you work with salad bar preparation, baking, serving, dishwashing, and follow-up work. You are also expected to be able to perform simple cooking when needed. Regardless of role, you become part of an engaged kitchen team where cooperation is a given. Together you help each other with the work tasks that occur in daily operations to create a pleasant meal experience for our guests and customers. Who We Are Looking For As a person, you should be easy to cooperate with. You contribute to a pleasant work environment and an efficient work group. You are service-oriented and have a positive attitude. Work experience from kitchen work is meritorious. Qualifications Trained cook and/or meal service assistant. Fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written. Good computer skills and familiarity with other digital tools.
