Invites applications for a doctoral position to research how the gut microbiome affects metabolic health and how microbiome-directed interventions can promote the development of precision medicine.
Work with the most advanced technologies:
Applikon MiniBio 500 bioreactors for controlled anaerobic microbiome cultivation
Gut-on-a-chip and modern in vitro intestinal models
Multi-omics technologies, including metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, and metabolomics
Bioinformatics and systems biology approaches to identify microbiome functional features
We offer:
• Fully funded doctoral research position (upon enrollment in a doctoral program at one of Latvia's universities).
• Training in both experimental microbiome research and bioinformatic data analysis.
• Collaboration with microbiologists, molecular biologists, physicians, and bioinformaticians.
• International research environment with modern laboratories and high-performance computing infrastructure.
• Work location in Riga.
Requirements:
• Master's degree in microbiology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, veterinary medicine, animal science, environmental science, biotechnology, or related fields
• Interest in microbiome research, metagenomics, microorganism ecology, and microorganism interaction studies
• Basic knowledge in molecular biology and microbial genomics
• Good communication and scientific writing skills in English
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research team
