Adult education on Gotland has been actively investing in vocational training for adults for several years. Today we offer education in multiple professions. Then you might be the person we're looking for. We are now seeking an engaged instructor for our adult education program in maritime with a focus on deck operations. As an instructor, you will be part of a team with other vocational instructors and coordinators. You will also have a mentor who will help you with your introduction to the workplace and your role as an instructor with us. The adult education unit comprises approximately 80 employees, of which approximately 60 are educators. Your responsibilities With us, you will have the opportunity to combine your professional experience and contribute pedagogically to educating competent and safety-conscious professionals for the maritime industry. As an instructor, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on teaching in accordance with applicable regulations. You will teach both theoretically and practically in areas such as: • Maritime safety • Deck operations • Ship technology • Work environment and safety procedures • Navigation basics • Practical work and procedures at sea The role includes assessment and grading as well as documentation according to applicable regulations. You will also conduct workplace visits as part of workplace-based learning (APL) and collaborate with supervisors, shipping companies, and other actors in the maritime industry. You will become part of an engaged team where collaboration, collegial learning, and development of education are natural parts of everyday work. Who are you? We are looking for someone with experience from the maritime industry, preferably from deck operations, for example as a sailor, experienced deck crew, mate, or equivalent. We would prefer that you are a qualified and licensed vocational instructor, preferably with maritime specialization. If you do not yet have instructor credentials, there may be an opportunity to obtain them as part of the position. It is meritorious if you have knowledge in: • STCW and maritime safety training • Maritime safety and safety procedures at sea • Ship technology and operations • Practical deck operations work We warmly welcome your application!
